1) HIIT: Best after a brutal weight session or the next day?
2) At what weight should a male look at gaining muscle as opposed to losing fat? (I’m 5′10″)
3) Jon LeTocq: Evil genius or crackpot?
What is your opinion on the contribution of thyroid / adrenal problems to fat loss, especially in the belly?
I really want to start the magic hundred, but how does one figure out what one’s goals are?
P.S. I love getting your newsletters.
Here’s my 3 questions and thanks for all the information you provide!
1. What exercises can one do that is a desk jockey to get in more exercise during the day? Seriously pushups off the wall in the ladies room or other things you can do other than walking during lunch.
2. What top 5 nutrients do you get everyday no matter what?
3. What protein powder or mixture is best in mixability and taste for those that want to eliminate sugar (I’m doing stevia only as much as possible) and limit animal sources (I’d like to minimize whey if possible and still get the protein and full filling a shake provides.)
I can’t wait to see the list and answers! A fan from the US
Thanks for the opportunity, Dax!
1) A few weeks ago I started doing different types of exercise every other day (yoga, running, circuits) but I find that I’m constantly sore. When I’m exercising I enjoy the intensity, feeling that I’m working hard w/o going overboard. But it’s super discouraging to pay such a heavy price all the time for working out…At what point do workouts feel good without so much soreness?
2) The evening, about 1-2 hrs after dinner, is my deadliest time for eating. Why do I have such intense desire to eat the and what can I do to skip the snacks (which are adding up to lots of extra calories) without feeling deprived?
3) Will you ever come to the US (Washington DC area!) to do a workshop?!
Best regards!
Hi Dax,
I am a smoker (bad I know but no judging), lost 40 lbs already and now I am at a point where I am ready to start working on a flat tummy and 6 pack abs. I currently do resistance training and intervals each 3 times a week. Nutrition could be better I am at about 60-70% clean eating. Question 1. I want to try the elimination diet but will it be all for not since I smoke?(toxins) 2. What or how is smoking effecting my ability to achieve 6 pack abs? Thanks for your time.
Hey Dax and team, thanks for this opportunity, very generous.
I wont be greedy i just have once question…
Over the last year i have torn each of my hamstrings, i am finally, i think back and injury free. But there is still that little niggle. I’m coming up to the end of the season and i want to hit my Hams hard in pre-season, to make them bigger and stronger than ever. However i don’t want to risk injuring them to much. What exercises and type of exercise should i be doing to get it back to full fitness and be stronger and more powerful than ever?

Hi Dax,
Can you talk about how we set our goal & then maybe get within 2 lbs of reaching it & then start sabotaging our own success? i’ve done this so many times & it seems like i have this mental block or something about actually hitting that goal#!! it makes me crazy & then i start feeling obsessive about food & what i’m eating, etc. i have good willpower when it comes to “all or none” thinking. So i’ve given up candy for new years for the last 2 yrs (successfully!), and am on my 3rd year with that resolution & i don’t really miss it anymore. But i know if i started eating candy again i’d probably start bingeing on it. And when i give up one thing that’s a bad habit, i tend to find something else to replace it.
so i think this is more about the mental aspect of dieting that i’m asking about…
can you respond re this kind of thinking?
thanks!
Hi Dax,
I am a 53 year ‘young’ woman but struggling with fat loss. My hormones aren’t helping the situation. I would like to know…
1) Have I “peaked” or can I still achieve the lean body I had when I was younger?
2) Will I die trying to achieve the lean body I had when I was younger? ;o)
3) Will I have to eat like an anorexic rabbit while trying to achieve the lean body I had when I was younger?
Thanks from a fan in Southern California…
Hey,
I am a fairly active young man, gym 2-3 times a week, footbal/running on the other days.
I am wanting to get the great beach physique we all want and I have 3 questions:
1. Do you bulk up with weights, then get ‘cut’? or do both alongside each other?
2. How many days weights to how many days cardio per week to get this body, and how long before you see results?
3. What suppliments to you think actually work, and how would you take them? Ie Protein, Creatine etc..
Thanks!
Do you recommend the elimination diet for someone who trains for long bike rides? By long, I mean 50 – 100 miles? I’m training for a century (100 miles), but want to lose weight and get healthy at the same time. I’m worried that doing the elimination diet won’t give me enough carbs to keep my energy up for the entire ride. I just got into bike riding recently, so I don’t have a lot of experience with long rides either.
What are your thoughts, Dax?
Looking forward to hearing from you,
thanks!
Dax,
For over a year, I’ve been “trying” to lose the same ~15 pounds to go from “looks great in clothes” to “fitness model” level of lean. I say I’ve been “trying” because I’m not very compliant with whatever diet I choose, though I haven’t gained any weight either and my workout adherence is great.
Is my “why” just not strong enough? Am I not dissatisfied enough with my current body? I don’t want to keep spinning my wheels in frustration if I’m demonstrating to myself that I’m just not ready to make the sacrifices & exert the dedication needed to get to where I want to go. How do I work out if it is or is not the right time to really dedicate myself to my physique goals, and then follow through with whatever the answer is?
Thanks for your help and any guidance you can give, I always enjoy your posts & learn something from them!
